The wine country is becoming a buzz of activity as the 2013 harvest commences across the state. Growers in the Napa Valley wine region are facing a heat wave making for one of the earliest harvests in recent memory. Here is the latest across the state.

Napa Valley - Harvest Napa Valley 2013 has begun and is now moving quickly. The valley is a hive of activity with the excitement of harvest. Follow along with the Napa Vintners new interactive website as they chronicle the action each week until things wrap up in early November. Read More

Mendocino - Mendocino County grape harvest looks 'fabulous'. Most of the county’s vineyards have been picked, and growers said two storms that came through about a week apart triggered little to no mold issues.  Read More

Santa Barbara County - In Los Olivos and the surrounding areas of the Santa Ynez and the Santa Maria Valley have had warm consistent weather this year. Grapes started coming into the Zaca Mesa and Foxen Canyon Wineries the first week of September and are now coming in fast.


Paso Robles - Harvest of the 2013 vintage began a week to 10 days early in Paso Robles, according to the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. Sauvignon Blanc, an early ripening wine grape variety, was reportedly being picked in mid August. Things are hopping now.

San Luis Obispo - Edna Valley harvest of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is happening now. In this cool growing region the vineyards are shedding their grapes for wine!

Sonoma - The harvest is now in full swing. Fruit is ripening faster in warm regions like Dry Creek Valley, leading to an unusually early start to harvest in hot spots. Grape growers and vineyard managers said they are expecting a crop that's perhaps a little larger than normal, but probably not as bountiful as the bumper crop of 2012. Read More

Temecula - Harvest is under way in most parts of California, and it’s well along in Temecula, a grapegrowing region north of San Diego and the southernmost American Viticultural Area in the state. Read More
