The Atascadero Wine Festival was founded many years ago to help raise funds to support local city projects, Atascadero Zoo exhibits, and educational and outreach programs. This fun “lakeside wine tasting” approach was created by a volunteer committee made up of local citizens, some of whom are still active on the committee and who volunteer at the event to this day.
The festival started in 1995 with a small number of wineries willing to participate to promote the amazing viticultural talents of our county, but also to help our cause. Today the festival has grown in more ways than one. First off, more than 80 wineries participate every year, showcasing the rich agricultural bounty that has been a part of this County for generations. Second, local food vendors come and highlight the incredible culinary skills that are becoming more abundant, growing side-by-side along with our world renowned wine region.
Lastly, the festival is so rich in community pride that another aspect was added as well. In conjunction with the Atascadero Art Association, local artists come together to showcase their creative abilities. From textured oil paintings to iron sculptures, the artistry is abundant and alive at the Atascadero Wine Festival.
The festival has come a long way over the years and we are proud to be part of a cultural event that promotes and supports the diverse offerings of the CentralCoast. We are honored to be associated with the City of Atascadero and the Charles Paddock Zoo. We have donated over $100,000 over the years to various city projects and to help the Zoo upgrade existing animal exhibits as well as to create new ones.
Please join us this year and help us support these causes and the only lakeside wine tasting event on the CentralCoast. Your wine festival ticket provides you with a commemorative wine glass, ten wine tasting tickets, and free admission to the Charles Paddock Zoo. Considered one of the jewels of the Central Coast, the Charles Paddock Zoo features animals from around the world including lemurs, tigers, flamingos and more—you won’t want to miss it!
