The Twenty-Fifth Annual Central Coast Wine Classic, billed as the most comprehensive cuisine, wine and lifestyle charitable wine event in America, took place in and around San Simeon, Shell Beach and Avila Beach this past July.

For many years of its Twenty-Five Year History, the Central Coast Wine Classic has been among the top charity wine auctions in the United States, often among the Wine Spectator’s “Top Ten.” Self-imposed mandates include educating and edifying the proper public demographic audience in the symbiotic relationship between fine wine and the culinary arts and the responsible enjoyment of each; promoting the wine and culinary industries; promoting the Central Coast as a world-class destination (attendees in 2008 came from 30 states and 200 California communities), and raising much needed funds for an array of area non-profits in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties whose missions are in the Healing, Studio and Performing Arts (Over 50 in the last five years for grants totaling $1,165,000!).

For this year the Twenty-Fifth Annual Wine Classic Foundation’s Board of Directors has chosen as beneficiaries the following non-profits:

Foodbank of Santa Barbara County; Foundation for the Performing Arts Center of San Luis Obispo; Friends of Prado Day Care Center in San Luis Obispo; Friendship Adult Day Care Center of Santa Barbara; Gatehelp, Inc./Gryphon Society in Atascadero; Public Radio KCBX San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara Counties; Los Padres Forest Watch of Santa Barbara; Morro Bay High School Band; Paderewski Festival of Paso Robles; Santa Maria Philharmonic Society; Senior Volunteer Services of San Luis Obispo and Transitions Mental Health Association of San Luis Obispo. The Annual Fund-A-Need Auction Lot will fund Respite Care for the Central Coast Alzheimer’s Association.

Details about the Central Coast Wine Classic  are available on the Wine Classic website, www.centralcoastwineclassic.org. An auction lot list is available and includes a wide array of wine lifestyle trips, dinners, events and more. You may call (805) 544-1285 or email archie@slonet.org to discuss event details and find out about the 2010 Central Coast Wine Classic.
