World Class Food & Wine Event

The Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association (MCVGA) invites you to escape the ordinary at the Great Wine Escape Weekend every November.

The Great Wine Escape celebrates Monterey’s world-class wines and gastronomic delights during a weekend of wine and culinary events. More than forty award-winning wineries will showcase their wines, reflecting the quality of the region’s nine distinct American Viticultural Areas.

The annual event has a blend of activities that include a grand dinner, barrel tastings, dozens of open houses and winemaker dinners and the unique “Boot Camps” where you walk the vineyards and learn to blend wines. There is also a Sunday Culinary Showcase with cooking demonstrations by nationally recognized Chefs. Check out for tickets, packages deals and hotel recommendations.

The Great Escape Events from last year.

The Escape includes Winery Open Houses starting Friday and continuing all weekend (Cannery Row, Monterey, Carmel, Carmel Valley and the Salinas Valley).

On Friday Night visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium for a special Barrel Tasting and Appetizers night. Wineries will be pouring their yet to be released wines for a sneak peak of future vintages.

There is always a Signature Winemaker Dinner. The five-course meal, under the direction of a local chef will pair Monterey County wines with special gastronomic creations. Not to be missed.

Wine Country Boot Camps take place on  in both Carmel Valley and in Salinas Valley. If you always wanted to blend your own wine, spend time in a barrel room, or enjoy the beauty of the vineyard, then join Monterey wine country professionals while you experience the most fun “training” of your life! Includes lunch and transportation.

Winemaker Dinners will take place on Saturday evening. Winemakers invite you to experience their hospitality as they partner with local fine dining restaurants throughout the Peninsula on Saturday evening.
