Paso Robles has been growing wine grapes for decades yet it is only since the early 1990’s that Rhone grape varieties have been cultivated. The region has a similar geography and climate to the Rhone River Valley in France. In France's there are 22 grape varieties including Syrah, Viognier, Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Roussanne that are grown and made into rich flavorful wines. More obscure varieties include Counoise, Bourboulenc, and Picpoul.
