Just south of the city of Monterey is the posh, upscale village of Carmel. With unique shopping, good restaurants and one of the finest beaches in California, Carmel is certainly worth a visit. It's also where within 10 miles you can find a wonderful array of small and medium sized premium wineries. Head east on Carmel Valley Road for this wine adventure where you can visit up to eight wineries (though we suggest you click though to the wineries profile and pick out three or four). This group of wineries has distinct charms, ranging from full service destination resorts to small family operations growing organic fruit. A number of wineries have great gift shops as well as very well made wines to sample.
