The Santa Cruz Mountains are characterized by many small, family-owned vineyards and small-to medium-sized wineries. Vineyards share the land with dense redwood forests and shaded country roads. The wineries here are not clustered in one area along one road. You will need to do a bit of driving (remember to have a designated driver) to explore these unique and sometimes quirky destinations.
