As the sun warms the inland valleys east of Temecula, the air rises, forming a low-pressure area. The colder, much heavier air from the Pacific Ocean, just 22 miles to the west, is then drawn inland cooling the vineyards in the evening. Daytime temperatures average over 90 degrees during the summer and 65 degrees during the winter. Rainfall averages 14 inches per year.
