Nestled among the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains, in the western edge of Cuyama Valley, Alere Vineyards produces rhone-varietals and a bit of zinfandel. At an elevation of 2,400 feet, the vineyard flourishes in a climate very similiar to that of the southern Rhone Valley.
With roots firmly planted in the soils of Santa Barbara County's northernmost reaches, the vines are nourished by nature and tended by three generations. Alere is constantly working towards being good stewards of natural and human resources.
The name "Alere", (pronounced ah-lare-ay), is derived from Latin and means "to nourish".
