Arger-Martucci welcomes you to its boutique family winery located in the heart of the Napa Valley in St. Helena, California. It is one of the few family boutique wineries in the Napa Valley that’s open to the public. Founded in 1998, the two families, Rich and Carol Martucci, and Julie and Kosta Arger, formed a partnership over creating quality handcraft wine. Today, Rich continues to oversee the financial side of the business while Kosta focuses on the wine-making duties. Their sons, Anthony Arger and Vincent Martucci, manage the tasting room.
Arger-Martucci's vineyards are planted on gentle hillsides in the Atlas Peak District, 1,350 feet above the valley floor. Between 1,000 and 2,000 feet is considered "the sweet spot" for growing hillside grapes, and Arger-Martucci vineyards take full advantage of the hillside's long sun exposure and cool nights. This makes for the perfect climate to produce their Estate-Bottled wines. They grow a handful of varietals including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Syrah. As a Cardiologist, Kosta Arger knows a lot can happen in five or ten years, with hearts and wines, so he strongly promotes aging the red wines, holding off on their release until they are "drinkable, enjoyable, and ready for consumption."
The tasting room is situated in a cozy, homelike setting equipped with an quaint "kitchen counter." The staff welcomes you to come enjoy the ambiance while sipping from a selection of the winery's delectable wines. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine-making process, open to any questions the guests may have. Once there, you may see why previous visitors have repeatedly proclaimed, "This is what visiting wineries in Napa used to be like!"
