Atalon Winery Description
Atalon Winery produces four different wines: Napa Valley-designated Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. In 2006, they purchased the former Robert Pecota Winery in Calistoga, where they have since relocated the winery operation.
Atalon draws fruit from selected vineyards stretching from the rolling hills of Napa-Carneros in the south to the peaks of Howell Mountain in the north. Vineyards are chosen for proven quality from the best-known districts, including Oakville, Rutherford, Mount Veeder, Atlas Peak, Napa, Carneros, Howell Mountain, and now Calistoga.
The Napa Valley wines are packed with ripe, opulent fruit, gentle tannins and the rich textures long associated with the Napa Valley. The Mountain Estate wines are focused expressions of mountain fruit – dense and powerful, with ripe flavors and bold structure.
The estate vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The soils in the vineyard are rocky, alluvial and relatively infertile - ideal for wine-grape growing. The Calistoga area experiences warm days and cool, crisp evenings, resulting in an optimum balance of fruit and acidity necessary for quality wines.

Stop on inNapaWino, Fresno This place had a knowledgeable staff that let me know about where they sourced their grapes and a little bit about their history. The Petite Verdot was delish!
