August Ridge Description

Combining the robust styling of the best California wines with the restrained classic elegance of wines from northern and central Italy, August Ridge produces distinctive Cal-Ital wines that emphasize the uniqueness of the Paso Robles region.

The winery itself is a small, unassuming building that sits adjacent to the family home. Its functional simplicity matches the surrounding farm and is an appropriate setting to produce the robust and elegant wines that express the August Ridge terroir. Inside, the tasting area is just a small bar tucked away in one corner of the working winery and affords the visitor a clear perspective of the winemaking in progress.

Wines in production include Sangiovese, Merlot and an Arneis blend. In future years the August Ridge selection will expand to include Nebbiolo, Barbera and Pinot Grigio. Two reserve blends based on Sangiovese and Nebbiolo are planned with a first release in 2009.

New and tasty!
James, Sacramento
March, 2008

This place is simple, friendly and small and makes some great Italian type wines. Call first to visit or show up on a weekend. Then enjoy the tasty Nebbiolo and meaty Barbera. Talk to the winemaker and learn a few things while tasting.
