Babcock Vineyards Description

Babcock Vineyards and its newly completed winery, sit high on a hill overlooking the Santa Rita Valley. The tasting room is situated within the production facility, amid all the hubbub of the winemaking. The small and simple tasting area lies adjacent to the grape-receiving equipment, right next door to the barrel room. A large wooden plank placed over two oak barrels serves as a tasting bar.

See video at VineStories.

A modest outside courtyard is available for tasting and picnicking. There are also two picnic tables well-situated on a grassy knoll, with a view of the valley and vineyards. Wines produced from their estate vineyards include Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Wines made from other Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County vineyards include Syrah, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Bordeaux blends.

Reds at a value
New wine lover, Chicago
Not as comfortable as others, we were in a stand up little room, but they let their wine do the talking and as expected the reds are top notch. there are some good values and the staff was very friendly even at closing time when we arrived.

Chill'in at Babcock's

Babcock is a nice stop of off Hwy 246 from SYV (Santa Ynez Valley) to Lompoc. The staff is very friendly but stumbled on a few questions regarding my selections, but the other employee at the time was able to help me out. The feel is very friendly and family-oriented as well, which is always nice. Their Chardonnays are light bodied and would be perfect for summer months at an elegant dinner!!!
