Baileyana Winery & Tangent Winery Description
Baileyana Winery sits on a small rolling hilltop overlooking the vine covered Edna Valley three miles south of San Luis Obispo. A beautiful, lovingly restored one-room schoolhouse serves as the tasting home for Baileyana and their sister brand Tangent.

The historic structure, built in 1909, served as the neighborhood elementary school till 1956 and now is home to a great wine tasting experience. There is an extensive gift shop with a wide variety of gourmet foods, cookbooks, wine accessories and a cooler with exotic cheeses. The wine tasting glasses are stem-less Riedel “Syrah” glasses and the wines are some of the most representative of the Edna Valley Appellation.
Wines produced by Baileyana include, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay and some interesting red wine blends. Wines made by Tangent are all white wines and include the varietals Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and the Spanish varietal Albarino, plus some unique blends.
The old schoolhouse is surrounded by a grassy picnic area with comfortable lawn furniture and views out over the rolling Paragon Vineyard. You can enjoy a game of bocce ball or croquet as you relax in their park like setting.
Their new state of the art winery was completed in 1999 and is adjacent to their “Firepeak Vineyard” at the foot of Islay Hill, a volcanic remnant that dominates the skyline a mile to the west of the tasting room.

Nice stopkirkdicanio, simi valley The tasting room is a old converted schoolhouse, very quaint, and the picnic area, where we ate, is lovely apart from the telephone lines there. Our server was very knowledgable on the wines and the history of the vineyard as well as the other vineyards in the area. The wines were pretty good but not outstanding. I liked 2 blends, the Eccleston, a white, and the Mosaico a red. Other than that nothing really stood out but it was enjoyable for the service and the scenery. Worth a stop.

Pleasant ExperienceWine Explorer, San Luis Obispo A very quaint tasting room and vivid setting. Upon entering the grounds, the sound of a guitar greeted me. The lady in the tasting room was kind and helpful. I enjoyed the red Syrah and think it would pair nicely with a good steak.
