Beaver Creek Vineyards is located in Lake County, just a few miles north of the Napa County line. The rustic tasting room welcomes visitors with richly flavored red wines from vineyards in Napa and Lake County including their own 22 acre organic vineyard. Expect a lot of wonderful personality from the wines and the owners.
Bruno Kolias and Martin Pohl, who hail from the Czech Republic, bring plenty of hard work and vision to the vineyard-- and to their wines. Using organic and biodynamic farming methods they craft remarkable hand made wines including Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet and a memorable red blend. They use natural yeast, no filtration and the absolute minimum of sulfites in their production. Beaver Creek strives to produce a product of the cleanest, purest quality maintaining a minimal impact on the environment.
The tasting room is just off highway 29 along a graded dirt road. The tasting room has wood floors, Pomo Indian artifacts on the walls. A wood burning fireplace resides in the corner. The winery hosts every month weekend event where they may have a BBQ, a cheese pairing, special tours or other surprises. The property hosts a herd of critters including sheep who work tending the vineyard weeds, llamas, chickens, pigeons, and in their creek, trout and the occasional beaver.
An interesting place to visit with exceptional wines.
