Beckman Vineyards Description
Just outside of Los Olivos, Ontiveros Road winds past small ranches (including a miniature horse operation), vineyards, country farms and estates as it leads to the family-run Beckman Vineyards. The idyllic wooded area hosts a beautiful pond - complete with ducks - and three individual gazebos in which winery guests can relax and enjoy the pristine surroundings.
The traditional red barn serves as part of the production facility, with a tasting room featuring an outdoor deck next door. The winery focuses on Rhone varietals and has two estate vineyards: the 165-acre hillside Purisima Mountain Vineyard has elevations from 750 feet to over 1250 feet, with almost 40 individual “blocks” of Rhone grape varieties. With differing limestone subsoils and micro climates, Beckman’s winemaker is able to produce an array of unique wines. A smaller 17-acre vineyard surrounds the winery, planted predominately to Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Selected vinyards are grown using biodynamic farming methods.
Wines produced include Syrah, Grenache, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Rose, Marsanne, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and a number of Rhone blends.
