Black Sheep Winery arrived in Murphys with the 1984 harvest. Their founders Janis and David Olson crushed their first Zinfandel, with assistance from current owner and winemaker, Steve Millier.
The wine is was styled in a big, bold way like nobody else could do. That's what makes Black Sheep different; we're different from the rest of the flock.
Zinfandel is the bedrock of what they're about, but over the years they have expanded their offerings to include Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz. We have just added our Port style offering which we call Fortissimo.
In Spring of 2007 they moved the tasting room up Main Street to their current location in the historic yellow farmhouse. They welcome guests daily from 11 to 5. Stop by and meet daughter Kathy Millier and sample their fantastic new releases.
