Bridlewood Estate Winery Description
This former race-horse rehabilitation center has been transformed into a dramatic resort-like winery operation. A well-tended forest of trees greets you as you drive up to the very impressive Spanish-style building, complete with a traditional mission-style bell tower, tile roofs and broad verandas. Beyond the circular drive, bubbling fountain and olive trees, the shade of the veranda leads to the large wooden doors of the tasting room.
Tile floors, a cozy fireplace and the large tasting bar invite visitors to taste and stay awhile. An extensive selection of clothing, wine accessories and packaged gourmet foods is also available. Outside, flagstone patios with magnificent views of the property are situated for tasting, relaxing or picnicking. Horse-drawn carriage rides ($5 - 11am to 4pm) wind through the manicured property, which sports a full-sized race track, shimmering pond, hillside vineyards and horse stables.
The winery produces five different Syrah wines and Rhone blends, as well as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Grenache, Chardonnay, and Viognier. In addition, Bridlewood makes other small-production lots for limited release, including a Syrah Port.

Good wines but crowded these daysphanson, Woodland Hills This winery is gorgeous and has a very nice picnic area and tasting room. You can even take a ride through the vineyards in a horse drawn carriage weather permitting. They have great Syrahs and Chardonnays. Over the years, it has gotten very popular and it tends to be a bit crowded these days. The wines are pricey but they are good so it just depends on what your budget can afford.

Very Impressive Groundsbbarnett, Newbury Park The winery facility is a very nice place to visit. This is one of the most visually impressive facilities in the area. The wines (they specialize in Syrah) are varied and good. The tasting fee is excessive but as club members, good deals are available. Overall a nice stop with pleasant staff and good wines

Good Wine Great ViewsEagle12, Chicago Bridlewood is our first day picnic spot on our harvest weekend trip and it does not disappoint. The grounds and winery are truly amazing. Here at Bridlewood we ran into a couple of circumstances I have only read about. first the buses of people. The tasting room is large so it can handle the crowds but at first it's a bit loud and overwhelming. The large groups were escorted to a side bar but even there its just too much. Between the noise level and all the commotion its was not pleasant. I may as well been at a club in Chicago. Second our server was borderline rude, she was more interested in vacation than assisting customers. I think our groups charm melted her surly attitude. The difference between outside the winery and inside the tasting room are night and day. Its hard to remember any of the wines except for the Syrah's, once you get into the upper level Syrah's they are very good. I purchase nothing out of shear aggravation and step out back to enjoy the spectacular views. Probably just the right place at the wrong time.

Spectacular Place!Kendra, Santa Monica When you travel around the wine country and you try new places you never know what you are going to get. We had not heard of Bridlewood but thought we would check it out. It was our favorite of the day. The place is like a beautiful resort but not overdone. Lovely patios, trees and vistas. The wines were wonderful and the people very helpful with our group. We like their Rhone wines and the Zin the best. Don't miss it.

SYV LushSoCal Lush, Santa Cruz This is a pretty good winery in my opinion. Having been to many of the Southern California Wineries, I have plenty to compare this to. The winery itself is absolutely gorgeous. On entrance is a gorgeous fountain backdropped by a white building with a three bell arch behind it. There are plenty of souvenirs to buy including shirts, purses, glasses, etc. The wine I tried was all good but their bottles are sometimes rather expensive. My favorite of the wines was the 2003 Bridlewood Winery Syrah Blue Roan. It has a mild aroma that was somewhat flowery. It has a slight taste of blueberry as it hits the back of the tongue. Overall it was a nice trip and nice people in the Tasting Room.
