Byron Vineyard & Winery Description
Byron Vineyards and Winery specializes in handcrafting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from estate-owned vineyards in the cool climate of Santa Maria Valley, California. Byron's goal is to honor the remarkable potential of its estate-grown fruit with the gentlest handling possible and a barrel-by-barrel approach to winemaking that tailors production techniques to each vineyard block. With the help of a multi-level, gravity-flow winery, the winemaking team at Byron strives to produce wines that are rich in character and texture and express the singular personality of Byron's Santa Maria Valley vineyards.
The stylish and relaxed tasting room is just a ½ block from the downtown flagpole roundabout. Inside the richly decorated room are high ceilings with large vineyard images, recycled oak and teak floors, a concrete tasting bar and a knowledgeable and friendly staff to help you navigate through your tasting. For reserve tastings there is a more intimate tasting space with leather couches and chairs.
Byron also feature IO wines. Curiosity is one of history's great motivators. Amid speculation that the region would never amount to much for Rhône variety wines, the original vines for Io were planted in 1991 at the Nielson Vineyard, one of the region's oldest sites. Three grafted acres of Syrah, one of Mourvedre and one of Grenache provided results that were compelling enough to merit a Syrah clonal trial in 1995.
Once again the results spoke volumes about the potential for Rhône varieties in the region, prompting the winery to begin sourcing Syrah from a select handful of the region's best vineyard designates. Since 1996, they have produced dense, striking Syrahs from a handful of mid-Californian coastal and inland sites. Our home is Santa Barbara County's famed Santa Maria Bench. It is a place of brisk winds, thick fog and cool temperatures. It is one of the world's great environments for Syrah and its Rhône cousins.

Nice experience at ByronDigitalEye, Santa Barbara Byron has a very nice tasting room in down-town Los Olivos, the staff we met were wonderful and the room itself is quite nice. We visited mid-week so the crowds were down and we definitely got more interaction with the staff (who were knowledgeable and fun) Byron seems to make it all through their Byron and Io labels but I've always been a fan of the Io Rhones. The Byron Pinots are quite good as well but you'll pay for that and there may be better values in town.
Always worth a visit when in Los Olivos.

Pleasant experienceansmom, San diego The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. The room was fairly crowded being a Sunday afternoon, cheese and cracker plate was nice and tasted good. I bought a case of Pinot noir and they helped me get it to my car.

Good Times and Good Wine at BryonWino, Los Angeles How exciting to find Byron with a tasting room! Yes the Bryon we all know and love. And what a cool tasting room. Classy, friendly and comfortable- it cannot be beat in all of Los Olivos and Santa Barbara County. But yes the wines. The Pinot Noir here is world class and that's a fact. Plus try the Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. I guess I like this place!
