Cakebread Cellars Description

Right off the highway is an attractive redwood-barn-style winery building with a shaded porch, nearby herb and vegetable gardens, olive trees, and -- in its own small shed -- the Cakebread Produce Center.

As you enter the complex of buildings, notice the glass-walled, wine club tasting room to your left. Continue through the building to the outdoor area and you will find the barrel room tasting area.  All tasting is by appointment, with many tasting programs to choose from, including the Educational Tour and Tasting, the Wine-and-Food Pairing Experience, and the Sensory Evaluation Tasting Program.

Cakebread Cellars has vineyard properties located throughout Napa Valley, and recently added a location in the Anderson Valley. The winery owns 13 sites totaling 420 acres, 340 of which are planted. Their philosophy is to produce high-quality wines that complement healthy food.

The winery hosts an annual food-and-wine event known as the American Harvest Workshop.  First developed as a working forum at which sommeliers, chefs and food producers could interact with key members of the media and business world, this event focuses on developing programs to promote and improve the quality, availability and marketability of American wine and food.

Cakebread Cellars produces a wonderful array of wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and occasionally Pinot Noir and Syrah.

They have a great tour that is included with your tasting along with the glasses. The guide was very knowledgable and led us through their grounds and tastings as you go with flair. The wine is all very good. Found the Sauv Blanc to be excellent.

Must be a member

I have visited this site both as a visitor and a wine member. If you are a visitor, a reservation is a MUST. The experience was better as a member, since you got to try more of the Cake bread collection. Definitely a must for any wine tasting tour of Napa.

Where is the bread?
Wino, Sacramento
This stop was alright with great wine. It was crowded when we were there but we had a great host who poured lots of wine and was very informed about Cakebread. There is a culinary bent to things here and we want to come back during one of their events.
