Calcareous Vineyards Description
Driving up the hill to Calcareous Vineyard, you begin to get the feeling that you may just be driving to the top of the world. At the end of the steep road that leads you to the tasting room, you finally have the opportunity to fully appreciate the phenomenal panoramic view of the surrounding hillsides and vineyards.
Perched 2000 feet above sea level and three miles west of Paso Robles, Calcareous Vineyards not only offers beautiful views, but also provides a large picnic area where you can enjoy the views along with a picnic and glass of wine. When you can peel yourself away from the view to enter the tasting room, you will be welcomed by the staff to taste Calcareous’ wines in their intimate and elegant tasting room where an wooden L-shaped tasting bar awaits you.
The wines offered at the tasting room include many single varietal wines including Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Viognier as well as a Bordeaux and Rhone blends. Calcareous also has a second label named "Twisted Sisters" with seven wines made under that label, all priced at $20 per bottle.

Beautiful Views and Very Nice WineDigitalEye, Santa Barbara Calcareous is worth the drive out and up the hill. They seem to do mostly Rhones but still manage a very nice Cab and a rich jammy Zin. The Syrah is great as is the Viognier/Marsanne. There were no misses in the 6 wine tasting and the staff really knew the wines well. Prices are average for the area, mostly in the $20-$40 range. My only complaint was that after we purchased 3 bottles they still didn't waive the $10 tasting fee.

Top of the World Views! Angel, Paso Robles With the newly constructed tasting room this winery is a must see! The views are gorgeous, and they just completed the Bacchi Ball court! Fun thing to play with friends, especially entertaining after a couple glasses of wine. The wines are across the board. Something everyone will like. Its a very relaxing place to have some lunch, enjoy their great wines, and just chill out!

What a View!Amy, Lake Forest You really can't beat the view from Calcareous Cellars. My jaw dropped when I made it to the top of the road and I really enjoyed trying their wines while enjoying the view. Be sure to bring a picnic!
