Carhartt Vineyard Description

At the north end of the main drag of Los Olivos is the 99-sq-foot tasting room (the smallest building in town) of this equally small-production winery. Family-run and operated, Carhartt Winery produces Merlot, Syrah, Rose and Sangiovese from their own local vineyard, as well as making Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel from nearby sources. Mike grew up on the land he now farms with his winemaker wife, and together they are the heart of Carhartt Vineyard.

The tiny tasting room is cozy and comfortable for a small group. Outside is a giant Japanese maple tree shading a small redwood deck surrounded by ferns, a trellis, a fountain, and comfortable chairs in which to relax. Wines are distributed only at the tasting room and a few shops in Santa Barbara County.

Really had a good experience here, easy to miss as you go into town but worth the hunt. Only two seats inside but tables in back, tasty-crisp wines both reds and whites. They don't make a lot of cases so they do run out of some wines, the magnums are a great value. All the wines had a freshness and light crispness that make these wines stand out. Highly recommended for a different style of wine.

This was such a beautiful vision of Wine grown from love and tender care. I was with about 6 others when we ventured out to this little space and it ended up being the perfect number, we were the only ones there and received wonderful service it was quite intimate. I would recommend this little place to someone with little knowledge of wines that is hoping to taste and learn, it is a perfect atmosphere for this.
