Cayucos Cellars Description

Cayucos Cellars is the quintessential small family winery. Owned and operated solely by a family of five, each may be found in the tasting room, pouring wine, interacting with those from far and wide, and always enjoying a good chat.

All of the wines produced by Cayucos Cellars are fermented using only the inherent abilities of wild yeast, and are aged for three to six years in neutral oak barrels before bottling. With a production of between five hundred and eight hundred cases of premium wine annually, they are able to indulge an incredible attention to detail in each bottle. Try their Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Syrah and a special late harvest Zinfandel.

The winery, located in an old dairy barn in the coastal hills above Cayucos, hides on a working ranch, thus it was prudent to place the tasting room in town to prevent anyone being flattened by their tractors. The tasting room is right on the main drag and all you need to watch for, while you taste, are surfers, beach strollers, and the occasional harbor seal.

Have some wine at the beach

You can't get any closer to the beach than this winery. It's just outside the back door. The tasting room is a little off the beaten path if your tasting for the day, but if your in Cayucos for the beach or shopping this is worth a visit. They have good everyday wines.

I love the beach and when I heard that there was a winery right near it I made it a point when I was in the area to give Cayucos Cellars a little visit for some wine tasting. It is a small winery which was expected because it is right by the beach but the wine was great. My favorite wine I tasted was the Cabernet Sauvignon.
