Cellar 205 Winery & Marketplace Description
Once an abandoned tire shop this downtown space is now a cooperative winery venture of two winemakers producing ultra small lots of handcrafted wines. Located in the winery zone, two blocks north of the beach and two blocks south of the ritzy downtown core, Cellar 205 shares the neighborhood with more established winery operations.
The inside of the place is a mix of winemaking and retail space. During harvest the place is beehive of activity that visitors can be up close and personal with. Impromptu tours can be easily accommodated. The spacious shop has lots of gift items and wine accessories along with stacks of wine for sale.
The two winemakers make wines under their own labels. Oreana is the vision of winemaker Christian Garvin who produces up to 4000 cases annually making Syrah, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Verdelho, Pinto Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, red table wine and a bit of the bubbly. Winemaker John Bargiel makes small amounts of Grenache Noir, and Syrah.
In the summertime there is a regular party here with live music, food and beer (!) available. In the winter months you can enjoy a glass of Syrah while watching a Hollywood film when they transform their barrel room to a movie theatre.
