Chateau Margene Description

The sounds of smooth jazz welcome you into the classy and relaxed, tasting room of Chateau Margene. The small tasting room is located in the middle of the barrel room and a v-shaped tasting bar invites you to enjoy the Mooney family wines. Though the tasting room is cool and relaxing, you may not be able to stay inside long as the beautiful outdoor patio and picnic area beckon you to come out and explore.

The jazz follows you onto the patio where you can sit back and relax, and enjoy the beautiful views of the hillsides, as well as the immaculately landscaped yard surrounding the patio. You may find some four legged company out on the patio as Chateau Margene has three winery dogs. Beau, Katy and Shaggy would just love for you to come join them on the patio and if it’s a really warm day, they may just follow you back on into the tasting room.

Chateau Margene is a family run, micro-winery, specializing in the production of handcrafted Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet blends. Owners Michael and Margene first began searching for the perfect location to produce wines in 1990, and finally found what they were looking for in 1998. Since that time, their two sons Chris and Jon have become actively involved in vineyard operations, processing and caretaking for the property and actually began the winery’s second label, Mooney Family, which will be introduced in Spring of 2008.

Best wines in Paso
strat62, Plymouth
Easily our favorite in the Paso area, (napa too for that matter). a smaller family run operation with superb cabs and pinot. the owner Mike Mooney talked with us for quite awhile and is very passionate ( and very good) at what he does. i could drink these everyday and never get tired of them. a bit pricey but you get what you pay for

I really enjoyed stopping in at Chateau Margene. The wine was enjoyable and the picnic area just enchanting. Be sure to bring snacks!
