Christopher Creek Winery Description
Old-fashioned hospitality and good Rhone-style wines make for great company at this funky little spot on the northeastern fringes of the Russian River Appellation.
The shingled, redwood barn-like winery is a classic old family-run operation sitting on a hill surrounded by their Petite Sirah estate vineyards. The small cozy tasting room is a throwback from the large destination wineries. The homey, rustic tasting space has low wooden-beamed ceilings, a tile floor and a small inlaid-tile tasting counter. The seasoned staff works to find the right wine for your taste, and is a fountain of information.
In addition to Rhone-style wines, the winery produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Chardonnay and richly flavored port. Their small vineyard is planted to Syrah, Petite Sirah and Cabernet. All the fruit comes from either the Russian River Valley or the Dry Creek Valley.
The red wines are made using small, open-top tanks, with the wine being “punched down” twice a day for up to two weeks during fermentation. French and American oak barrels are used for aging. The goal is to produce intense, perfectly balanced wines that are approachable, with medium tannins and the aging potential of three or four years.

Avoid patronizing a business with poor customer servicerench01, New York They agreed, several months before my wedding, that I could bring a group of 50 for a tasting, and reaffirmed their commitment as the date got closer. When I attempted to follow-up to discuss details, they ignored multiple emails and calls from me, sending me into a time-intense scramble to find alternate vineyards, vastly accelerating our stress right before our wedding. Instead of apologizing and offering to rectify the situation, the owner called my comments misdirected, and claimed that he personally responded to all of my emails and received no phone calls from me. When I provided evidence with exact dates to the contrary, he ignored me again. This is the first time in my entire life as a consumer that I’ve felt disrespected enough to post an online review. Do not reward a business with awful customer service, particularly when there are lots of friendly, high quality owners of other vineyards ready to provide you with the experience you deserve for spending your hard-earned money.
