Consilience Description
The winery’s black label with intense bright coloring matches the concentrated bold style of their handcrafted wines. Drawing from mostly Santa Barbara County grapes, the winery focuses loosely on the Rhone varietals, with a number of vineyard-designated Syrah and Grenache offerings. They also produce Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and a Zinfandel Port.
The tasting room, on Los Olivos’ “Tasting Room Row,” is a stylish room with contemporary artwork, modern lighting, tile floors, heavy wooden display tables and a poured concrete tasting bar. Gift items include logo clothing, wine accessories and chocolate treats. Tables out front under the veranda make ideal spots from which to sit back, relax and people-watch.

Petite Sirah wins overall!TheAmericanIdol, Santa Barbara I absolutely love the feeling of this winery. The interior is arranged with artwork and is well decorated. They have a very nice selection of wine. To my surprise, I really enjoyed the 2005 Viognier over the 2005 Pinot Noir. The Viognier had a very fruity aroma (almost peach or tropical) but thrilled the palate when it turned out to have a nice dry spice flavor. I will admit my favorite was the 2004 Petite Sirah. The Petite Sirah was very bold and extremely flavorful (rich with the flavor of berry). I was pretty impressed with this winery, although it is not one of my favorites for the area, but that is solely because there are so many to chose from in the Santa Barbara-Santa Ynez Valley area.
