Curtis Winery Description

Just down the road from Firestone’s extensive vineyard and winery operation is the attractive ivy-covered Curtis Winery and tasting room. As you drive up the road, giant oak trees shade an ancient rusted tractor and other antique farming implements, along with several picnic tables and an inviting grassy lawn.

The bright and vibrant tile-floored tasting room supplies visitors with Rhone-style estate-grown wines. When the main tasting room is crowded with visitors, the winery simply opens up the adjacent cellar and event room, which features a unique Vicard 40-hecaliter upright oak tank. On the wall above the long copper topped tasting bar is a dramatic 7’ x 34’ mural depicting a colorful Guatemalan landscape, originally commissioned in 1935 by R.H. Macy’s for their N.Y. store.

The cool temperatures of the cellar room remind visitors that they are in the middle of the winemaking operation. Packaged food, cheese, crackers, vinegars and pottery are for sale. Wines produced are Viognier, Roussanne, Mourvedre, Syrah, a Cabernet Syrah blend, a sweet late-harvest Viognier and a dry Rose. Large-format bottles are also available.

Nice drive up little hill, clean and open setting, modern, very nice wine tasted during our Passport trip. Goodies outside, wine, cheeses, fruit. Marketing Stings newest release which I bought. Will go back in couple weeks.

I found the Roussane to be impeccable. It was enjoyable to witness the wine making process up close and personally. The staff was happy and helpful. They also have some nice pottery, if you are into that sort of art.
