Dutcher Crossing Winery Description

The warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere at Dutcher Crossing is a pleasure, as are their handcrafted, limited-release wines. They specialize in Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

The wood-sided, barn-like structure has a breezeway between the winery operation and the intimate tasting room. Walk back and you will be in their garden patio, where picnic tables and a large outdoor fireplace under an overhead trellis make for a lovely, relaxing wine-tasting experience.

Inside the tasting room, a hardwood floor and limestone-topped tasting counter establish the room’s warm ambiance. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and may include one or two of the owners. There are comfortable chairs adjacent to an indoor fireplace, as well as a few clothing items, a cooler with cheese selections, and some olive oils for sale.

The winery owns 32 acres and supplements its production with fruit sourced from nearby Dry Creek Valley vineyards, Alexander Valley and Mendocino County. The winemaking style is to produce wine in small lots using innovative formation techniques, resulting in fruit-forward, food-friendly wines. They also produce a port made from a blend of Zinfandel, Petite Syrah and Syrah fruit, which is then
barrel-aged in French oak for 24 months.

There is also an event space on the property where a handful of educational and interactive wine experiences are presented.

Dutcher Crossing
Glass Man, Orange County
Dutcher Crossing. The parking lot was full, but the tasting room was nearly empty. There was a very large group picnicking in the back lawn. It was too hot to enjoy a picnic. It was in the mid-90’s at this point, at 11:30AM on September 28. Overall, we were not impressed with the wines for the price. • 09 Sauvignon , $22. • 08 Costello Chard. $28 • 08 Saralee Chard Russian River (Kunde), $30 • 07 Maple Zin, $40 • 07 Proprietor’s Reserve Cab. Their signature wine, $29. 19% Sarah. I loved this wine! • 06 Cab, $43. • 06 Taylor Reserve, $43

Fantastic
otherfootloose,
We absolutely love this winery, and happened upon it after tasting the wine at the Harvest FAir. The facility is bright and cheerful, as are all of the servers in the tasting room. The place was very busy when we were there, but not once did we get the idea that the servers felt overwhelmed or flustered in any way. Exceptional performances by all. Would highly recommend tasting the Maple Zinfandel

Good Cab, Zin & Chard
Wino, San Francisco
Great family winery near larger Sonoma wineries. Laid back with a couple of comfy chairs and some very rich a ripe Cabernet and Zins. The Chard is rich and full bodied with hints of apple.
