Edward Sellers Description
Just a few miles west of highway 101 is the new home of the boutique winery of Edward Sellers specializing in small lots of handmade American Rhône-style wines from Paso Robles vineyards.
The Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Roussanne & Viognier grapes are handpicked from vineyards found on the calcareous-rich hillsides of Paso Robles. According to owner and winemaker Ed Sellers, each of these vineyards has been strategically planted in small blocks to maximize the vineyards’ own unique soils, location and character. It is this terroir that produces the finest Rhône varietals found on the California Coast.
The estate vineyard is situated in the heart of the Templeton Gap, a microclimate influenced by the Santa Lucia Coastal Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean. This area is characterized by clear, sunny days with temperatures reaching into the high 90's. By late afternoon, those temperatures cool as much as 40 degrees as the Pacific Ocean's misty marine layer creeps through the mountain pass. This diurnal fluctuation is critical to attain the intense varietal characteristics of the region.
Their bright and airy tasting room and its attentive staff has a clean, cool granit tasting counter, stained concrete floors and a large window looking into the winery. Try the Roussanne or flagship Cuvee des Cinq, a blend of five grape varieties. A lovely patio with tables is available to take in the views of the vineyard.

 Don't drive by this oneWineHound, San Luis Obispo One of the first wineries on 46W, you need to turn left into their driveway and go around back to their beautiful, architectural gem of a tasting room. Nice picnic views of the vineyards, excellent Rhone blends. Cool view into their barrel cellar from the tasting room. 2011 Viognier just being introduced, very nice.

Something specialSommelierTim, Simi Valley Amy the winemaker at Edward Sellars really knows her craft. The blends both white and red are something to savor and cherish. You can't go wrong with a little Cognito too.

 Nice downtown spotKendra, Bakersfield This little place is just a 1/2 block from the city park and close to other downtown tasting rooms. I found the lady who served us very knowledgeable and friendly. She was actually a great character and contributed to our enjoyment of the wines and the stop. We will look for their wines to buy as they were fabulous!
