Epiphany Cellars Description
As president of Fess Parker Winery, Eli Parker has been involved in the local wine business for almost 20 years. He has now ventured off and started a new small production label that explores the joys of making wine from Rhone varietal grapes. Using grapes from the family’s extensive vineyard holding, he is making Roussanne, Pinot Blanc, Grenache Rose and Blanc, Pinot Gris, Syrah, Syrah-Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah.
In the heart of Los Olivos’ “Tasting Room Row,” the updated yellow Victorian building has a stylish look and feel, with a black walnut hardwood floor and a large wine hutch made from old barn wood behind the attractive poured concrete tasting bar. Lots of nice wine accessories, pottery, logo clothing, and a selection of gourmet chocolates are also available.

Epiphany - Spring 2011attackdog100, Although the Epiphany tasting room is not located in a vineyard, the staff's knowledge and friendliness more than make up for the difference in ambiance. We took this tour on our own and I had done a lot of research and had my pages of notes with me. We had two purees who were very knowledgeable and friendly. They had several wines available to taste and when our server saw my notes he said we could taste whatever they had available! We purchased the 2006 Petite Syrah last bottles and the F Block Rodney's Vineyard 2006. They also let us taste a 2005 Late Harvest Viognier which we bought 2 bottles of. Very generous with the pourings and impressed that they let us taste several wines not on their list of the day. Their 2009 Grenache Blanc was very nice as well as the 2007 Grenache. Oh and did I mention - the tasting was free? Coupons on their website!

New world style Rhone lovers dreamDigitalEye, Santa Barbara Epiphany does not suffer form any type of identity crisis. While many wineries try to cover the spectrum of varietals or at least attempt to bridge a few different styles Epiphany simply forges headlong in to the land of "new world" Rhone style wines. They offer an impressive, affordable and quite flavorful line-up of Rhone whites with my favorite being their Inspiration, a blend of Viognier, Rousanne and Grenache Blanc. Year-to-year this is a winning blend and it used to be under $20, though I think its crept up a bit lately:-( On the red side its Syrah, Grenache and Petit Sirah all the way. Several blends and some impressive single vineyard offerings all with very rich, lush flavors and textures. If you're a fan of more acidic and austere old world wines you probably wont find much to like at Epiphany but if you like fuller, extracted wines you can start right here.

EpiphanyWine Lover, Oceano Visiting Epiphany was sort of like stepping back into the Victorian period of history. Pinot Gris is worth a taste. Fabulous gourmet chocolate, but I couldn't find a satisfactory wine pairing with the chocolate. Nevertheless, worth a visit.
