Fess Parker Winery Description

Situated on the flat valley floor among giant mature oaks and expansive grassy lawns lies Fess Parker Winery and Vineyards. The attractive, large green-hued structure has a stone-columned veranda that wraps around the building. Under the veranda, tables and chairs supplement the traditional picnic tables that are scattered about the neatly tended property. A stone path leads past lush rose gardens on the way to the tasting room.

The grand tasting room has extensive gourmet foods, wine accessories, picnic baskets and logo clothes, as well as two attractive tasting bars looking out over the lawns and vineyards. Farther back, the space opens up and has the feel of a large ranch-house living room, complete with a rock-walled fireplace, couches, tables and chairs.

Mounted high on one wall is a large photograph of Fess Parker’s Daniel Boone character from his successful 1960s television show. A plasma-screen television plays the winery’s DVD along with movies starring Fess Parker. The winery has three vineyards; it also sources fruit from the region, including Pinot Noir from the Santa Rita Hills Appellation. Wines produced include Rhone- and Burgundy-style wines including Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinto Blanc, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and blends marketed under the Frontier Red label.

Foxen Canyon Road wineries rule!

Some are a bit pricey but they have very nice wines. Friendly staff and beautiful setting. This area always does Rieslings well, but the Pinot Noir was excellent. I highly recommend stopping for a visit. Sadly Davy Crockett is no longer with us. RIP, Fess.

Very scenis place with good wine

This is a beautiful winery with a very nice tasting room. The staff has always been very friendly. It can get a little crowded on weekends but it is worth the stop. All their wines are good but Syrahs are probably their big seller. I happen to like their whites, (Chardonnay and Viognier) and they seem to have more of them to offer than a lot of the other wineries in the area.

While we were checking out from our hotel I noticed they had passes for free tastings at Fess Parker's which wasn't on our list of wineries to visit. I took a couple just in case and was really glad! We had passed it several times on previous days but didn't stop. This was our last winery and our favorite. The property is gorgeous and well tended. A garden path leads to the front door and when you enter it takes your breath away. Beautiful tasting bar and sitting area complete with fireplace and couches. Their wines were great especially the chardonnay and Ashley's Pinot Noir. We asked to taste a port and another wine not on their list and they obliged. We each bought 2 bottles of wine. Would go back. Am looking for their wine in New Hampshire!

I confess this is a worthy winery. The setting is serene, complete with roses, winding paths, and plenty of outside seating. I enjoyed the 2004 Ashley's Vineyard Pinot Noir and thought it was a good value.
