Four Vines Winery Description

With winemaker Christian Tietje supervising, Four Vines is led by a hedonistic group  and specializes in old vine Zinfandel, eclectic Rhônes and Spanish varietals. In the winemaker’s words, “Four Vines wines capture the nectar of eternal youth - exotic, enticing, irreverent, bold, and seductive - unveiling and sparking a mysterious and personal story with every bottle.”

Passion, irreverence, and pleasure all can be found in the personality of this winery and its wines. Sourcing grapes from Paso Robles, Sonoma, Napa and Amador counties allows the winemaker to find just the right fruit to create his big and bold stylish wines. The winery has concentrated on Zinfandel but also produces a range of wines with names such as Naked Chardonnay, The Biker (Zinfandel), Anarchy (Rhone blend), Heretic (Petite Syrah), Loco (Tempranillo), and a couple of ports.

The tasting room, off of Highway 46 West, is in the back of a big green barn that is also home to a bakery, deli and gift shop.  Outside there is a small patio with tables and chairs. The handmade custom door allows you in to their cozy and hip tasting room. It is an attractive place with custom table tops and an attentive staff. If you ask you can get a temporary custom Four Vines tattoo. There is some logo clothing and a bit of chocolate for sale, but the focus is on the wines.

Not too exciting

The winery is OK, the wines just didn't quite suit my tastes... They had quite a selection of Zins when I visited but nothing that really 'hit the spot' for me. For somebody else, I'm sure one of their signatures could easily be a fast favorite. It's worth a tasting stop just to try out their selection. Maybe you'll find a new favorite even though I didn't.
