Gregory Graham Winery Description

Greg Graham has been the winemaker at Rombauer Vineyard since 1988 and began producing wine under his own label in 1992.

He purchased a 13-acre Zinfandel vineyard in the Red Hills appellation of Lake County. The soils in the Red Hills appellation are red, rocky and well drained, and are ideally suited for the Rhone varietals. He later purchased an adjacent 12-acre Cabernet vineyard.

The cozy tasting room has a wood topped tasting bar, tile floors and a hospitable staff- usually a family member or the winemaker himself. The tasting room is actually a seperate room inside the winery with windows looking out to the winery operation.

Greg’s focus with his current wines is to make fresh, structured, fruit-forward wines that are reflective of Lake County. In the vineyard, he harvests the grapes at the peak of fruit flavor development, and in the winery he uses old style winemaking techniques and early bottling to preserve these flavors. The result is wines with bright, fresh fruit aromas and flavors with intensity and softness.

As of 2005, Greg transitioned to producing exclusively Lake County wines. In addition to Zinfandel, Syrah, Grenache, and Cabernet, Greg produces Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc.

People’s Choice Wine Awards Competition

Back in August, a group of 10 professional judges tasted every Lake County designated wine and awarded medals to a select number of wines in various categories. Those wines were then presented to the “People” for a blind tasting on September 26. We are pleased to announce that out of seven of our wines which received medals from the professional judges and were included in the competition (two of which were in the same category), five of our wines received the People’s Choice Award for best in their category: 2008 Viognier, 2009 Rose, 2007 Grenache, 2007 Syrah, and 2007 Cluster Select Sweet Zinfandel.

Not what I expected
emyann, Lakeport
I visited this winery during the Lake County Wine Adventure. The tasting was held in the stainless steel cellar. I work in the wine industry, but was surprised by the operating room sterility of the environment for tasting. Anyway, looking past the ambiance, the wine was pretty good. They paired AMAZING food with it bringing out the best of their wines...they know that they are doing!

GG is Good!
Rocko, San Jose
Wow, great wines from this small producer in Lake County. We really enjoyed the Rhones, the Sauv Blanc and the Zin. Very well made wine.
