Harvest Moon Estate & Winery Description
Harvest Moon is a family-driven boutique winery nestled in the Russian River Valley that focuses primarily on California's own Zinfandel. The proprietors, Bob and Ginny Pitts, have grown grapes in Russian River Valley since 1977.
The tasting room is back within a complex of attractive buildings surrounded by stone walls and wine making equipment. Under an outdoor canopy is the entrance to the tasting room. Inside the hospitable staff pours a range of wines, including four Zinfandel's as well as Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, both dry and a very sweet "ice" Gewurztraminer, and a couple of sparkling options. For events there is an outdoor patio and a gourmet kitchen.
In 2000, their son Randy assumed the farming responsibilities at the family ranch. Although the Estate Zinfandel is their pride and joy, Randy also handcrafts a limited quantity of Estate Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir.
Check out their wine education series called "Wine Country Classrooms," where guests can take courses such as Crash Course 101 and Zin Fanatic.

Harvest MoonGlass Man, Anaheim Hills We were last here in July 08. Randy the owner / wine maker poured us a lot of wines, some unlabeled that he was experimenting with. The two guys pouring today were just as pleasant. We snacked on Sangiovese grapes. We liked the Zin, but it was $30.

Gewürztraminer Bubbly!emyann, Santa Rosa I went just to try the bubbly and it was AMAZING. It is the first thing they start with, therefore everything afterwards doesn't do enough. Their wine is good, but the bubbly is the best.

Harvest Moon-wonderfulsusanb32, Sacramento I had never heard of Harvest Moon until I drove by it on a recent wine outing. The tasting room is located right next to the crushpad, and it was nice to see the production and hospitality sides of the winery so close to one another. I tasted my way through their lineup, and especially liked the Pitts Home Ranch Zinfandel. They even had chocolates to taste, along with a Zin style Port for dessert. The staff was very friendly and I get the feeling that the winery is happy at its current production levels and trying to maintain a small family-feel to the place.
