Jodar Vineyards Description
Just off Highway 50 in the Apple Hill area is the newly completed,
early-California-style tasting room of Jodar Winery. Their estate-grown fruit from high elevations produces richly flavored red wines and a creamy Chardonnay.
The winemaking operation is located back in the hills and is open for special events for those hardy enough to survive the drive. The Spanish-tile-roofed tasting room has a wraparound veranda and a lush lawn with a small pond out front. Inside is a tile floor, a narrow wooden tasting counter, and a friendly host to lead you through the tasting. Jodar hosts a number of events at its tasting room and winery during the year. Call for a calendar of events.
The steeply terraced Jodar vineyard overlooks the American River Canyon and is located at 2,400 feet of elevation, near the edge of the El Dorado National Forest. The original plantings were of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Jodar has added to its vineyard and now offers Zinfandel, Barbera, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese and a soon-to-be-released Petite Sirah. An estate port is also produced.

Good locationGoingToCalifornia, LA This tasting room is Spanish style in nature which I thought was pretty cool. Rich wines with bold flavors. Very senic area as well.
