Kenwood Vineyards Description
In a grove of Redwood trees up against a hillside sits an old 1906-era barn that houses the tasting room of Kenwood Vineyards. The attractive, rustic wood-sided structure is attached to the winery building as well as to their underground cellars. Its large sliding barn-type doors lead you into a very friendly and relaxed space to taste the winery’s offerings.
The old barn has stories to tell, as does the seasoned tasting-room staff. (Ask if you can look behind the big doors in the back of the barn to spy on the dozens of 3,000 gallon French oak Demptos barrels.) The winery has over 125 stainless-steel fermenting and upright oak tanks and 14,000 French and American oak barrels used to craft wines.
The winery makes classic California varietal wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer and Merlot. The winery uses its own estate grapes as well as sourcing fruit from other nearby areas, including the Russian River Valley and nearby Glen Ellen.
Kenwood has a reputation for making fruit-forward wines that offer consistent quality and value. Using the "cuvée" winemaking method, the harvest from each vineyard is handled separately, then blended together to create the final product. They also produce a Single Vineyard Series of wines including their flagship, Jack London Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Also, check out their Artist Series of labels and their ever-consistent Sauvignon Blanc.

Kenwood on Thursday October 4, 2012Steve Cory, Atlanta I couldn't be more pleased to write a glowing review of Kenwood. While visiting and taking photographs of the arriving harvest, Asst. Winemaker Alex McTaggart asked if we would like a closer look. He proceeded to give us a tour of the winery explaining intimate details of the winemaking process and how Kenwood makes their wines special. We received a wonderful gift of a passionate explanation of how fine wines are crafted. Thank you Alec for a memorable time. My wife Wendy and I are now Kenwood fans for life!!

KENWOODGlass Man, Anaheim Hills We picked the hottest week of the summer to visit Sonoma. We arrived st 11:45 on September 29, 20120. It was 95 degrees! We had a 20% coupon. Hutch poured. This was an enjoyable visit. Kenwood may be the best value in all of Sonoma county.
• 09 Vintage White, $7. Nine. Would have bought if we didn’t already have a case of chard from Ventanna.
• 08 Vintage Red, $7. We bought this one. Very nice table wine. Well balanced.
• 08 Russian River Pinot, $18. Light style Pinot. We bought this one.
• 08 Pinot Reserve, $25. Richer, more body.
• 06 Jack London Merlot. We both liked. $20
• 07 Sonoma Zin, $16. My favorite.
• Jack London Zin, $20. My wife's style of Zin, which is peppery. Both Zin’s were fine.
• 07 Kenwood Cab, $15. Very Nice! We bought this one.
• 07 Kenwood Sonoma Cab, $18. Good, but not as good as the $15.
• 06 Jack London Sarah, $20. Yummie!!!

Big timei love zin, San Fransisco This is a big production winery. I've of course, seen their wines in many stores so it was neat to visit the winery. They make one of my favorite varietals (Gewürztraminer) but I also liked their Cabernet and their Chard. They had lots of good deals in the tasting room so we ended up with a lot of wine. I will be a lot more likely to pick their wines off the store shelf now. :)
