Off the beaten track on De Portola Road is the home of a charming early-California-style winery and tasting room with a history dating back to the region’s early days of grape growing. Keyways Winery has gone through an extensive makeover, with an expanded production facility, newly remodeled tasting room and lushly landscaped grounds.

Keyways was the name of one of the first vineyards in the area that proved the viability of growing quality wine grapes in Temecula. Today it is the first and only winery in Temecula that is owned and managed by a woman. The tasting room has a rustic yet elegant environment, with a Brazilian onyx-topped tasting bar, cozy fireplace and unique gift shop.

New vines have been planted to Rhone varieties to complement the Bordeaux wines that are currently being produced. In addition, Keyways offers Riesling, Chardonnay, Barbera and Port. For something very exotic try their “Ice Wine,” which is a sweet wine made from grapes left on the vine well into winter, concentrating the fruit and natural sugars.

The Winemaking Bistro features signature snacks, sandwiches and cheeses to pair with the wines. Enjoy their flower-laden gazebo, picturesque wedding pavilion and unique outdoor tasting barn overlooking the pastured Arabian horses.
