Koehler Winery Description
On the east side of Foxen Canyon on an oak-studded hillside lies the
100-acre ranch known as Koehler Winery. Visitors driving across the valley and up the hill to the winery pass Koehler’s estate vineyard planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Syrah, Sangiovese, Grenache and Viognier. The vineyard was originally planted in the 1970s, at that time providing fruit to other wineries in the state.
The winery hosts a menagerie of unusual animals and exotic birds on the property, including a group of very curious and friendly emus (a relative of the ostrich). Under the veranda of the tasting room, four giant antique ceramic olive oil jars from Sicily stand guard against the wall. Inside, the mustard-colored walls, stained concrete floors, barn-wood tables and an unusual “custom-stitched” tin-covered tasting bar create a stylish and relaxing atmosphere.
Outside on a small grassy hill picnic tables look west over the valley. In addition to their estate wines, Pinot Noir sourced from the cool Santa Rita Hills is also produced at Koehler.

Last StopEagle12, Chicago What a nice surprise on our last stop of the harvest weekend. We arrive at the winery to find Felipe the vineyard manager and Olivier the winemaker on the pad drinking Chardonnay juice, they let us sample some and take the time to explain where they are in the process. Once inside the tasting room Dan takes us through both regular and reserve wines, he is friendly and knowledgeable. wines and buy six bottles . The standout of the bunch is the Magia Nera a Sangi/Cab blend. The grounds surrounding the winery and overlooking the Emu pens are well maintained and this will be the location of our last picnic lunch of the harvest weekend. What a pleasant surprise to close our trip

One of our Favoritesvcgeno, Scottsdale A few years a go on our first trip to Santa Barbara wine county we stopped here on our way to Fess Parker (Koehler is next door). After being disappointed at Fess Parker we did not expect much but Koehler made the trip worthwhile. We enjoyed it so much in fact that we now make an annual trip to the area and make it a point to stop at Koehler on each trip. We enjoy all of their wines but find their Pinot and their reserve Sarah exceptional. Do your self a favor and stop by Koehler when you are in the area.

Birds!Luke, San Francisco I went to Koehler completely unsuspecting to be sharing my tasting excursion with so many feathered friends. Although I was more than happy to enjoy their company. This aspect of the vineyard is what lingers in my mind, though that is not to say that the vineyard itself isn't beautiful unto itself, or that this wine isn't spectacular. The Cabernet Sauvignon was what I left with, that and a desire to find an emu of my own.
