Kunde Family Estate Description
For 100 years, five generations of the Kunde family have farmed their 1,850-acre estate in Sonoma County’s Valley of the Moon. They use organic and sustainable agricultural practices, growing more than 20 wine grape varieties.
In 1990 the family built their state-of-the-art winemaking facility as a replica of the original 100-year-old Kinneybrook Ranch cattle barn. Out in front is a large pond with fountains and a picnic area. Inside is a long rectangular tasting room with stone floors, tall ceilings and lots of creative wood accents. The tasting bar offers regular and reserve wine tasting, where your glass is your souvenir. Free tours are given on the hour on weekends and at 11am on weekdays. Special four-hour hiking tours of the 1,850 estate acres are offered from spring through fall.
The tasting room features gifts, wine-country art, vintage photographs, clothing and culinary treats such as hand-crafted oils, vinegars, spreads and sauces. A favorite treat is Kenwood’s tasty Zinfandel Chocolate Sauce and Cabernet Chocolate Cherries.
Just outside the winery building there are 32,000 square feet of tunnels, with a storage capacity for 5,500 barrels. These caves are ideal for aging wines, with year-round temperatures at a constant 62 degrees Fahrenheit and the humidity ranging from 90 to 95 percent.
The winery produces estate-grown wines using classic winemaking techniques such as cultured and native yeasts, malolactic fermentation, aging sur lees, and barrel-aging to achieve overall balance between fruit and intensity. All of these achieve the goal of creating stylish and complex wines.

KundeGlass Man, Orange County $10 tasting fee, we had a coupon. We tasted a wine that was corked. Pourer said that they were prohibited from tasting the wine they poor. Unbelievable! Very corporate. Didn't seem like a family atmosphere at all.
Skip Kunde.
• 06 Sangiovese, $28. Not so good.
• 05 Cab
• 07 Century Vine Zin, $30. Full bodied, lacked balance.
• 09 Gewürztraminer, $13

My visit to Kundej6537952, Lehighton We enjoyed visiting Kunde. The wines were fabulous, each with a wonderful bouquet. The staff was very helpful with our individual selections of tastings. Our favorite was Fred's White 2005. I have never tasted a wine that came close to the smooth flavorful taste of this wine. It was enjoyable with chicken, fish and while we snacked on cheese and crackers it was perfect. Thanks for making such a great wine.

Elegant & RefreshingOrion, Santa Barbara I found my visit to the Kunde Estate Winery to be most elegant. The environment of fresh flora and flowing fountains relaxed my mind and I was at ease while enjoying each sip of wine and conversing with the friendly service. Each server seemed to be as much a part of the Kunde family and was able to inform me on the history of the land and vineyard, something that I always enjoy. The variety of wine was something that I was able to explore for time on end, I felt comforted by being able to select from the Family Selection and found the 2003 Merlot to be just what I was looking for.
