Lone Madrone Description
Sharing the lovely property with the Sycamore Herb Farm is the newly constructed wood barn and tasting room of Lone Madrone. The spacious and eclectic grounds of the herb farm create a great place for this very hip tasting room, where Rhone-style, Bordeaux and even Italian varietals can be found.
Visitors stroll down a little walkway past an old windmill, a tree house and friendly farm animals to the entry of their rustic yet elegant tasting room. Inside is a warm inviting space with a brick floor and wood ceiling. A great gift shop has many unique items, such as sculpted metal artwork, La Chamba Columbian (a fair-trade organization that imports gorgeous deep black Columbian clay pottery for use as cookware) and custom-made candles along with quality wine accessories and picnic supplies.
Owned by the British born winemaker Neil Collins and his wife Marci, the former chef has honed his craft at three prestigious central coast winery operations (Wildhorse Winery, Adelaida Cellars and Tablas Creek) before starting out on his own venture. His original winemaking experience came from the famed southern Rhone estate of Chateau de Beaucastel in the Chateauneuf-du-pape region.
Lone Madrone is producing up to 19 different wines from individual vineyards, including, Roussanne, Nebbiolo Rose, IL Toyon Nebbiolo, Mourvedre, Barbera, Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Picpoul Blanc and a number of blends. For a unique treat try their bottle-fermented ciders, Bristols and Bristols Extra.
The Lone Madrone garden store is a place to find lovely items for your garden and surrounding areas to enhance your outside space. Items featured include recycled glass hummingbird feeders, rustic birdhouses, locally handmade decorative stepping stones, lantern-style candle holders, and various vintage-look pots and containers for plants.

Don't miss Lone Madrone!zrandyc, Santa Rosa The Lone Madrone Tasting Room is inviting, warm, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. Beautiful gift shop! The wines are superbly crafted. I particularly liked the unique red blends - Old Hat, Alproja, Barfendel - and the Roussanne and Viognier.

A must-visit winery on your next Paso Robles wine tasting trip.tsunami78, San Luis Obispo As a Central Coast native, I feel rather spoiled with the sheer number of good wineries in the area. That said, I often have friends visiting who ask for recommendations when arranging for a tasting trip. Lone Madrone is one of the truly exceptional wineries in Paso Robles, and always makes my list.
The winemaker has learned from some of the best in the industry, and he has taken those experiences and built on them. While his focus tends to be on Rhone varietals, he has a hard time turning away good fruit, which is evident when you look at the sheer number of varietals and blends available in the tasting room. My personal favorite this year is the Bailey Ranch Zinfandel, but there is something for everyone to enjoy at the tasting room.
In addition to a charming environment filled with many pieces of fine art and hand made furniture, you will find a gorgeous picnic friendly garden area. Also on the property is an organic herb farm with lots of goodies. If you are making a trip to Paso Robles, Lone Madrone should definitely be on your itinerary.
Cheers!

Lone Madrone is CoolJames, Santa Monica This winery tasting room is back by a extensive garden and nursery. The place is warm and inviting with very unique metal sculptures and gift items for sale. The real winners are the wines. Rhone style, richly flavored and ready to drink. The Syrah and the Viognier were to die for. We love this place and will be back.

Basil and wine--so fine!Rocko, This winery is on the property of a very cool herb farm and they have a basil festival every year. This year it was very fine and along with the wine tasting made for a fun day out and about. We recommend a stop here.

Neat place. Great wines.Kendra, Fresno We loved this stop along the west side of Paso Robles. Very cool and hip herb garden with animals and plants to check out. The Rhone wines here were exceptional especially the Syrah and Viognier. Pleasant people added to our stop. Was glad to find this stop.

Great wines!Paso_Zin_Man, Paso Robles The '04 'Old Hat' Zin was great! Worth the trip just for that, in and of itself. But plenty of other nice offerings as well. I tend to go for Zins, but my party enjoyed the Rousanne very much as well. Nice tasting room too!
