Lynmar Estate Description
Lynmar Estate is a Russian River standout for its production of premium estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The beautiful and spacious hospitality center at its Quail Hill Vineyard was designed to blend into the existing landscape and provides many options for wine tasting and tours.
Guests are presented with a whole host of options when it comes to tasting. The estate tasting flight is $10 and comes with a selection of four wines (two Chardonnays and two Pinot Noirs). Reserve Tasting $20 and includes a flight of four wines. Seated flights available. Wine Estate Tours are also given available Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and run $65 (including tasting and light lunch pairing). Calling ahead for reservations. Food and wine pairing lunch also available.
Their Quail Hill Vineyard was originally planted in 1971 and has some of the oldest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines in the Russian River Valley. While the older blocks are valued for their balanced fruit, a phased replanting of Quail Hill Vineyard in 1996 was begun to better match each sub block with its optimal clonal selection and rootstocks. This replanting program includes 71% of the vineyard and was completed in 2005.
Sustainable and organic agriculture govern the vineyard activity. It borders the Laguna de Santa Rosa, a 250 square-mile watershed that is home to mammals, reptiles, native plants and migrating birds. The vineyard and winery team uses the most habitat-friendly farming techniques and is sensitive to the needs of this ecosystem.

Professional experienceTylerBC05, San Rafael I was overall very impressed with Lynmar. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by the winery host, who sets you up with a tasting on either their patio, private rooms, or wherever else you may like. I opted for the outdoor option, and was served some exquisite Pinots and Chardonnays, along with a mix of different appetizers. The host who was responsible for our experience was very friendly, and took time out of her schedule to sit down and talk to us about Lynmar's wine, her experience in the wine industry, etc. It definitely made the visit that much more memorable. Next time, I might try the more extensive winery tour and tasting. In my experience, Lynmar is the benchmark of winery hospitality.
