Meridian Vineyards Description
As you head up the long driveway, past thier extensive vineyards, you’ll find yourself on the top of a small knoll surrounded by majestic, 200 years old oak trees, landscaped herb and flower gardens and idyllic country picnic grounds. There is a large event lawn back to the side of the winery building adjacent to the vineyards. Follow the path that leads up to a the winery and tasting room. Along the way are name plates identifying many of the well tended plants.
Out in front of the natural stone winery building is a lovely patio with tables and umbrellas under a giant Chinese Pistachio tree. Inside is the long, narrow, tasting room punctuated by large window that look down on the impressive barrel room. The stained concrete floors mix with an array of gourmet items for sale including the usual wine accessories as well as cowboy hats and BBQ sauces. The marble topped tasting bar compliments the elegant and inviting room. In an attached area is a deli where cool drinks, cheeses, meats, and other snack items are available. The winery offers wine classes, including blending seminars, as part of their tasting experience. (Call ahead for reservations.)
Part of the large Beringer Blass Wine Estates, Meridian produces a range of value priced, widely distributed wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Limited small lot production wines are available in the tasting room and to club members only. Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir are part of their limited release program. Some of these releases are under 300 cases and sell out quickly.
