Description

Even though the spinning waterwheel and millpond are only for decoration, they are attractive ornaments at the old redwood-sided tasting room of Mill Creek Winery.

This small estate winery is owned and operated by the founding Kreck family, who make a range of California varietal wines. The winery sits against the western side of the valley in a bucolic wooded setting. Up the hill behind the tasting room is a large redwood deck, where picnickers are encouraged to settle in and enjoy the country atmosphere and views.

Inside the tasting room, heavy wood-beamed ceilings make for a cozy environment, perfect for sampling their wines. A few gift items are for sale, including locally collected honey, crackers, cheese and gourmet treats.

Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Zinfandel reign here, but make sure to try their off-dry Gewürztraminer, their Syrah and their Cabernet Sauvignon, which is a blend of their own estate fruit and that of nearby Alexander Valley. Though rarely poured in the tasting room, ask about their exceptional Bordeaux blend, Reflections. A port Zinfandel should be available soon.
