Monte De Oro Description

The distinct characteristics of Monte De Oro wines are enjoyed in the extraordinary Tasting Room amid a setting that provides a spectacular 180-degree panoramic view of the Palomar, San Jacinto and San Bernardino Mountains. A state-of-the-art, 31,000 square foot facility, Monte De Oro Winery offers an oasis of wine excellence and beauty, and an environment that is both sophisticated and inviting.

The tasting room is an impressive space with a gift shop and an outdoor veranda with views of Mount Palomar. Monte de Oro Winery is rich with Old World splendor and charm. From its majestic alabaster chandeliers to its rich alder wood wine bars and warm chiseled travertine floors, the décor instantly transports guests to an elegant, luxurious experience that is both comfortable and inviting.

They offer two VIP rooms and a private event kitchen as well as private, blind wine tastings. While tasting, you can gaze below your feet, through the glass floor, to the wine barrel room beneath.

Call ahead for their live entertainment schedule. Special finger food and wine pairings are also offered as well as vineyard tours and winery tours.

Monte De Oro is owned by OGB Partners, a collection of 67 investors. The partnership’s objective was to develop and establish Monte De Oro as a premium winery in Southern California – producing through a natural gravity flow winemaking process the best quality, 100% estate grown wine in beautiful Temecula Valley.

Monte De Oro is commited to sustainability with solar panels and an underground barrel facility to capitalize on the cooler temperatures.

Monte De Oro makes a tremendous investment in the purchase of brand new French Oak barrels. In fact, Monte De Oro is one of only a very few wineries in Temecula to do so; the average cost is in excess of $1,050 per barrel. Monte De Oro’s red wine barrel regime, on average, calls for 25-35% brand new French Oak Barrels, 15-25% one-year-old French Oak barrels and the balance (up to 60%) in 2- to 3-year-old French Oak barrels.

One exception to this French barrel regime is Monte De Oro’s Zinfandel wine, which requires the special qualities of American Oak to bring out the varietal’s characteristics.

The vineyard of 59 acres is planted to Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Viognier, Zinfandel, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli, Tempranillo, Petite Verdot, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Grenache and Cinsault. See more vineyard information

Monte De Oro Winery’s magnificent grounds and facilities are available for personal events, weddings and celebrations.

This was really a beautiful stop on our Temecula Tour. So glad we heard about it. The place is lovely with great views and good people to take care of us. Our favorite wines were the cabs. We recommend and will be back.
