Monte De Oro is owned by OGB Partners, a collection of 67 investors. The partnership’s objective was to develop and establish Monte De Oro as a premium winery in Southern California – producing through a natural gravity flow winemaking process the best quality, 100% estate grown wine in beautiful Temecula Valley.
Monte De Oro is commited to sustainability with solar panels and an underground barrel facility to capitalize on the cooler temperatures.
Monte De Oro makes a tremendous investment in the purchase of brand new French Oak barrels. In fact, Monte De Oro is one of only a very few wineries in Temecula to do so; the average cost is in excess of $1,050 per barrel. Monte De Oro’s red wine barrel regime, on average, calls for 25-35% brand new French Oak Barrels, 15-25% one-year-old French Oak barrels and the balance (up to 60%) in 2- to 3-year-old French Oak barrels.
One exception to this French barrel regime is Monte De Oro’s Zinfandel wine, which requires the special qualities of American Oak to bring out the varietal’s characteristics.
The vineyard of 59 acres is planted to Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Viognier, Zinfandel, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli, Tempranillo, Petite Verdot, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Grenache and Cinsault. See more vineyard information.
Monte De Oro Winery’s magnificent grounds and facilities are available for personal events, weddings and celebrations.
