Mosby Winery Description
Just south of Buellton along Santa Rosa Road is part of the old Rancho de la Vega property, which was purchased by the Mosby family in 1976. Prior to that, in 1971, a vineyard was planted and the winery known as Vega Vineyards emerged as one of the first Santa Barbara County wineries. In 1980 the name was changed to Mosby Winery. See video at VineStories.
Driving past the rock-walled entrance adorned with the Mosby family crest, visitors get the sense that they are going back 100 years in time. Giant sycamore and ancient oak trees shade several picnic tables, and a palm tree stands across from a 25-foot-tall cactus in this rustic, authentic setting. Just ahead is an old California adobe built in 1853 as a ranch house that is now home to the Mosby family.
To the right is the historic carriage house, built in the 1880s, that now functions as the tasting room. Fully restored in 1978, the space is still permeated by the rustic atmosphere of old California. The wines are Cal-Italian and include Grappa, plum and raspberry brandy, and a sparkling wine. Other offerings include Cortese, Pinot Grigio, Traminer, Sangiovese, Dolcetto, Primitivo, and Teroldego. Be sure to check out the artist series wine labels by acclaimed artist Robert Scherer. If the need arises, use the Barrel Bathroom for a unique winery experience.

Beautiful Bottlesmurphede, Fernley Mosby was not our favorite winery. We were not impressed by property at all. The tasting room wasn't anything special and there was no restroom other than the port-o-john. On the positive note we tasted some great wines! They have an extensive list that they choose 5-6 wines from so there are quite a few bottles that we did not get to taste which seems to me would hurt their sales. The artwork on the bottles was beautiful, however most people won't buy the wine unless they get to taste it! Also we found most of the bottles to be way overpriced! We probably will not be returning to this winery! :(

Mosby-Spring 2011attackdog100, This was our first stop with the Stagecoach Tour company we booked with. A cute tasting room and the server was very enthusiastic and entertaining. I liked the 2005 Primativo - an Italian version of Zinfandel. I thought the wines were overpriced though. Would probably skip this one next time.

Good Wine Better LabelsEagle12, Chicago The last stop on our second day is Mosby. A nice little tasting room along the interstate. It is late in the afternoon and our server could care less. He is pleasant and knowledgeable and the place is cute as described by my wife. The wines are good, but yet again I believe the reds are better than the whites. In my opinion the 2 standouts were the 05 Primativo and the 05 Teroldego. The label artwork is unique and this turns out to be a nice little stop along the way. I might stop again.

Mosy on to MosbyDream Weaver, Roseville Mosby has a historical feel, as the buildings are of that sort. Very nice trees and plants around the grounds. I liked the Raspberry Brandy, it is a unique and tasty beverage. Do go.
