Nelson Family Vineyards Description

Redwood trees, vineyards, a great winery dog and handmade, estate-grown premium wines make Nelson Family Vineyards a memorable stop on your
wine-tasting tour.

The motto of this family-owned micro-sized winery is “Great wines are born in the vineyard.” With grape-growing experience going back to the 1950s, the Nelson family gently crafts their grapes into wines that are well-balanced and possess finesse, flavor and panache.

The tasting room is located up the road in a small grove of redwood trees. A comfortable outdoor patio sits amid a garden planted with California native plants. Inside the well-kept and minimalist tasting room is a small tasting counter, hardwood floors and a fireplace.

They produce wine in ultra-small batches with the “tender loving care” that can be found only at a family-owned micro-winery. The family tends over 200 acres of vineyards planted with nine varietals of wine grapes, including Zinfandel, Carignane, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier, Orange Muscat, Riesling, and Merlot. If you are lucky, they may have their Ice Riesling Dessert Wine available.

I was in the area so I thought I would stop by this winery. I have driven by it a few times before and have been interested to see what it was like. The tasting room is located off the highway a little bit. The tasting was complimentary and I was able to try their Riesling. It is spectacular.
