Oso Libre, meaning "Free Bear" in Spanish, is situated on top an idyllic hill in Paso wine country, off of Vineyard Drive. The winery is surrounded by its vineyard's endless grape vines, the ranch spanning 90 acres of breath-taking rolling hills. The tasting room is very chic, in a welcome well-lit room furnished with artwork depicting grizzly bears and comfortable lounge chairs surrounded by gift shop merchandise.
The vineyard was established in 1996; it is family owned and operated as well as SIP certified. They take great pride in supplying over 100% of their electricity through wind and solar power. Grass-fed Black Angus, Olde English Babydoll sheep, and free range chickens all graze the land between the vines, fertilizing the soil as they happily munch away the grass. This perfects the grapes and makes for a more delicious, sustainably produced wine.
There is a 27-hole disc golf course on the property as well, allowing an enjoyable family exercise opportunity in between sampling wines. It was built for charity, donating to cancer research through Oso Libre Por Vida (Free Bear for Life) foundation. This vineyard's many attractions makes it a must-see winery.
