Page Mill Winery Description

Founded in 1976, Page Mill Winery is a family-owned and operated winery dedicated to producing hand-made, high-quality wines from various vineyards in the state. After 28 years in the Santa Cruz Mountains, they relocated to a converted, transformed 40-year-old barn off South Livermore Road. You drive up a dirt driveway around a small vineyard and a house until you come to the
rock-sided wall of their winery. There is an empty horse barn on the left, and a covered veranda and the entrance to the tasting room on the right.

Inside is a very comfortable space with a cozy couch, an oriental rug, 20-foot ceilings, deep-burgundy-colored walls, and two crystal chandeliers. (The wine barrels are back behind the curtains.) It has a unique ambiance that - with a small crowd - makes for quite an exciting place. The room is dedicated to wine—no boutique here, just a small tasting bar at the end of the room and wines to be tasted. Their small vineyard is planted to Petite Sirah, though they are better known for their Bien Nacido Pinot Noir and their Sleepy Holler Syrah. They also produce Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, a dry Rose Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Zinfandel from 93-year-old Rous Vineyard vines. They also have a limited-release California Port.

Fun, interesting and unique spot out of town. Fine Cabernet and other reds including their port. The place itself is pretty simple but very eclectic. People inside were great and walked us through many wines. We bought 2 cases so I guess we liked the wine!

I ventured off the paved highway only to find myself surrounded by gorgeous vineyards and memorable landscaping. I took a few dear friends with me who had never been to Page Mill Winery, let alone a vineyard, and we had the most spectacular time. The selection was choice, although I would recommend the Pinot Noir.
