Pine Ridge Winery Description

In a small wooded valley just off the Silverado Trail, you will find tucked into the hillside, the wonderfully hospitable and renowned Pine Ridge Winery and their extensive wine tasting and touring opportunities.

The winery keeps its cozy, warm atmosphere while offering three first class opportunities to educate and tour the grounds and facilities. Tour their demonstration vineyard and the extensive wine caves or try the hosted barrel tasting paired with artisan cheeses. On Sundays try their “Creative Culinary Combinations” with prepared food and wine combinations. The Caves here total more than 34,000 square feet and host a number of events in addition to tasting programs during the year.

The terraced vineyards are surrounded by pine trees and low rock walls with goats that roam the property for the winery’s weed abatement program. The demonstration vineyard with its vine-covered gazebo provides a good opportunity to learn about the types of trellising systems available to growers. Near the richly landscaped tasting room entrance is a picnic area for club members only.

The wines are made with a fruit forward style. They produce Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from grapes grown from five different growing regions (AVA’s) within Napa Valley, including Rutherford, Oakville, Stags Leap and Howell Mountain.

We visited on a Sunday around 2:30pm, it was very crowded. No more tours were available and it was too crowded to get in to taste anything.

I loved learning about wine here, with the informative tour. I took special interest in the fruit forward style as this was a new concept to me. My favorite taste was the 2004 Crimson Creek Merlot. Wonderful place to really learn about wine.
